Dancer hits the heights

09 Mar, 2010 12:00 AM
ESSENDON student Dominique Blowes has danced her way to the top of this year's list of most promising VCE students.

The St Columba's College student, pictured, joins a group of young artists, designers, and performers, who will take part in the VCE Season of Excellence at the 10th Top Designs showcase.

Dominique, 17, recorded a VCE study score of 48 in a dance subject she completed while in year 11 last year.

She was chosen for Top Dance for a four-minute composition where she imitates a bird who becomes trapped in a cage and tries to break free.

Dominique said she had been dancing since kindergarten, and was over the moon when chosen.

"I was just really proud that it was chosen and it's a great opportunity to showcase what I'd been doing throughout the whole year."

She will dance at the Melbourne Recital Centre in Southbank on March 19.
