JUST after midday at busy Union Road Des 'Tuppence' Moran, brother of slain underworld figure Lewis Moran, is shot dead by two masked gunman while leaving the Ascot Pasta and Deli Cafe.

Several witnesses see the gunmen flee the scene and speed off in a blue or green vehicle.

When Community News goes to press for the June 16 edition, the shooters are still at large.

Homicide and Purana detectives work through the night to gather sufficient evidence and allegedly seize three handguns, a wig and two stolen registration plates in a safe at Judy Moran's home.

Tuesday, June 16

MORAN family matriarch Judy Moran, 64, is one of four people arrested over the shooting of her brother-in-law Desmond Moran.

Others arrested are the sister-in-law of Judy Moran's murdered son Jason, Suzie Kane, 45, and Ms Kane's boyfriend, Geoff Armour, 43.

The three are held in custody.

In the afternoon, a 45-year-old man is arrested after detectives executed a search warrant at Muddy Lane, Myrniong, just after 3pm.

Judy Moran's home is fire-bombed just after 11pm.

Wednesday, June 17

METROPOLITAN Fire Brigade estimates the damage to Mrs Moran's house to be more than $150,000.

Sergeant Glen Warren from the arson and explosives squad, said no one was home when the house burst into flames but believes it is logical to link the fire to the events on Monday.

At the Melbourne Magistrates Court Judy Moran and Suzie Kane are refused bail on charges of being accessories after the fact to the murder.

Police allege Kane removed and hid registration plates from the car used by the alleged killers.

Victorian Police Commissioner and former leader of the Purana Taskforce Simon Overland meets Moonee Ponds police.

Thursday, June 18

GEOFF Armour fronts the Melbourne Magistrates Court accused of being one of two gunmen responsible for the shooting death of Desmond Moran.

No bail is granted and Magistrate Dan Muling rules the accused must appear at court on September 9, the same day Kane and Moran are due to face their charges.

Friday, June 19

WITH the search still under way for one of the alleged gunmen and killers of Des Moran, police announce they will set up an information caravan near the site of the murder. Motives for the hit are still unclear but missing millions of dollars and a past altercation are areas of investigation.
