A POLICE helicopter hovered over mourners and a large media pack at the funeral of Des 'Tuppence' Moran on Friday.
The funeral service at Roselyn Court Receptions in Essendon was attended by hundreds of people including Mick Gatto, who parked his car on a nature strip outside the venue in front of the media contingent.
Essendon Primary School is directly across from the reception centre and pupils played outside as mourners made their way in through the gates, guarded by security.
A Judy Moran lookalike tried to gain entrance to the funeral, but was sent away.
Mr Moran was shot in daylight with children, traders and shoppers in full view, at a delicatessen in Union Road, Ascot Vale, on June 15.
Judy Moran has been charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact.
Suzie Kane has also been charged as an accessory to murder after the fact, while Geoff Amour has been charged with murder.
