POLICE dog Boss and Leading Senior Constable Brad Forster have been a formidable team for about seven years.
In the time they have been partners as part of the Victoria Police K9 Unit at Attwood, Constable Forster reckons they have just about seen it all.
The pair have played an integral role in finding suspects in armed robberies, countless break-ins and other sinister crimes.
Boss' latest starring role on Keilor Road this month is something Senior Constable Forster has come to expect.
"A lot of our work is proactive, but we also monitor what's going on so as soon as we hear something [on the police radio] where we could be useful we get out there," he said.
"We are pretty much at the front line in what we do." While praise has been heaped on Senior Constable Forster and his star German Shepherd for their latest success story, at nearly 10 years of age, it's almost time for Boss to throw in his badge and ease into retirement.
"The bond between us is fantastic, but he is nearing retirement age," he said. "It's always a bit sad."
