AIRPORT West became the third club to secure an Essendon District Football League B grade finals berth after slaughtering Moonee Valley by 169 points at Ormond Park last Saturday.
You could not help but feel sorry for the undermanned Valleys as the too-hot-to-touch Eagles registered a mammoth 56 scoring shots and full forward David Zahorodni did as he pleased to snare nine goals.
The one-win Valleys were held scoreless in the first term and went into the clubrooms at half-time staring at a 108-point deficit.
The black-and-whites did offer some resistence in the second half and even managed to boot five goals, but the gulf between the best and the worst in this division is widening by the week.
Special mention to the Valleys' Jacob Schepis, who for the second week running was his side's only multiple goalkicker in a heavy loss.
Scepis is still a teenager playing in the under-18s and could have a bright future for the Valleys.
The Eagles are looking only to the immediate future.
A win in the final round will have them book a top-three berth and a double chance in the finals.
The end of the season can't come quickly enough for East Keilor.
The Cougars were smashed by 99 points on the road at Glenroy.
The only bright spots for them was the performances of Michael Andrews, Steven Baxter and Thomas Hunter.
In other matches, the Northern Saints inflicted more pain on Jacana; Sydenham Hillside fought hard before losing to Hadfield; Keilor Park sent Westmeadows toppling from the top five; Pascoe Vale edged out Roxburgh Park, and Taylors Lakes failed to secure the minor premiership with a defeat to in-form Tullamarine.
